Ledley King was full of praise for defensive partner and debut hero Sebastien Bassong after Sunday's 2-1 victory against Liverpool.
Sebastien rose superbly to meet Luka Modric's free-kick and head home the winning goal just minutes after the Reds had equalised Benoit Assou-Ekotto's stunning opener at the Lane.
In doing so, the 23-year-old became the tenth player to mark his Spurs debut with a goal in the Premier League.
It was only the second time Ledley and Sebastien have played together but Ledley is impressed with what he's seen.
"Sebastien was brilliant," he beamed. "I played 45 minutes with him against Olympiacos and realised straight away what a good player he is.
"He was even better against Liverpool. He showed that he going to be a very good player for this club.
"He's a great lad, a great athlete and we're delighted to have him here."
Ledley stressed before the big kick-off how important it was to start the campaign positively.
"It was great to win, especially after what happened last season," he added. "In terms of team work and work rate we couldn't have asked for more.
"Both teams started tentatively but when we stepped up the pace that's when we looked dangerous.
"We expected a tough game and that's exactly what we got but we worked hard, pressed them and countered at times, using our pace. If you look on the evidence of chances alone I think we deserved our win.
"But it's important we don't get carried away."
