Asked about the latest situation in his post-match press conference after our 1-0 win at the Valley, Glenn stated: "It still goes on. I'll be glad when it's done and we can get on with coaching.
"We're a little closer and working extremely hard behind the scenes, the board, the chairman and myself. We're juggling a few balls we're hoping one will fall into place.
"That would be nice because it would be a nice platform after starting reasonably well to go and strengthen from that position. That would show the supporters that the board are ambitious."
He was quizzed further on any latest news regarding a move for Spanish star Fernando Morientes.
He explained: "The Morientes deal is a difficult one and there are a lot of things happening which are not necessarily between us and Real Madrid. There are other things that might affect it and while we have not given up hope, it is a bit complicated.
"Time is running out but we can't do any more than we are."
Glenn Hoddle reiterated last night that his search for a striker is still ongoing.
