Scott on United test

Posted on 18 January 2013  - 11:11

Scott Parker appreciates that we'll have to be at the top of our game to get a positive result against United on Sunday - but like Jermain Defoe, he insists the Premier League leaders will know they are in for a game at the Lane.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men go into the weekend with a seven-point lead at the top of the table having won 18 of their 22 matches so far.

As we all know, one of only three defeats this term was our fine win at Old Trafford back in September.

It should be a match to remember with United on a run of nine wins in 10 in the Premier League while we've won seven of our last 10.

"United have quality players and aren’t top of the table for nothing, they are a very good side," said Scott.

"They have players all over the pitch that can win games for them. Obviously Robin Van Persie has come in and scored all their goals, but they are never a one-man team, they have plenty of players who can hurt you in the attacking third.

"Having said that, any team coming to the Lane know they are going to have a difficult match. It might be Manchester United and they might be top of the league, but they know they will face a tough game.

"We’re going to make it as difficult for them as we possibly can and, while I’ve said they have quality throughout, I’m sure they will be highlighting our players who can hurt them too. I’m sure it will be a great game."
