SCOOP NOTED that Michael Dawson was pictured in one paper last weekend giving it a little pose under the Carnaby Steet gateway. Apparently, his arrival and subsequent posing in front of the camera did not cause much of a stir among those buzzing around the famous shopping mall - a fact that Michael freely admits himself. "I was down there for a 'little shoot'," he laughed when questioned on the matter. "I didn't get too many funny looks, I think people thought 'who's that idiot standing there for the cameras'."
CLUB TRANSLATOR and English teacher to our foreign lads Roberto Balbontin has another string to his bow - refereeing. He's been the man in black for a recent run of Spurs Staff games at Spurs Lodge. He got all excited when he was told that he was changing in the 'coaches' dressing room before one game as he imagined sharing the same pegs as Martin Jol, Chris Hughton, Clive Allen and Hans Segers. Off he went to change but minutes later, a desperate call from his mobile. He'd gone around the back ot the building, shut the first team dressing room door behind him and got stuck between the two locked doors - the dressing room and the the the main entrance to the building. Stuck in darkness, he could have been there all night but for his mobile and the keen ears of the security staff on duty. We then explained to Roberto that it could have all been avoided - he was meant to change in the coaches dressing room in the Academy block, where everyone else was, NOT the first team area!
RETURNING to those Staff games, Scoop can happily report that the Staff team is following in the traditions of the club and playing some lovely, passing football. With Scoop of course playing a blinder in goal, we've won 13-1 and 9-4, with that latest win against a combined Premier/Football League XI. Only one thing has let us down - finishing. We could have scored a load more goals with Commercial Partnerships Executive Steve Watts the biggest culprit. If he could partner the ball with the net a few more times, we'd have no worries!
WE RECKON Scoop has a new rival in the undercover reporting stakes! The attire worn by Noe Pamarot when he emerged from the dressing room at Spurs Lodge this week definitely had the look of intrepid reporter.
Either that or a French version of Detective Jack Frost!
