Shearer: Shearer is a very good striker and a leader for his team. In 1998 in the World Cup against Argentina he played for England in St Etienne. I was director of St Etienne at the time. For me, it was a beautiful game, maybe the best game of that World Cup. You all know the score, 2-2 and England lost on penalties, the red card for Beckham. For me, it is a good memory but perhaps not so much for Alan Shearer.
I played against many English teams before that, Manchester United, Liverpool in my career. I always knew English football was one of the best championships and always liked it.
Naybet: When we have a young team is is important to have two or three leaders and two or three experienced players. I know Naybet, he played in the French league and everyone knows how well he did at Deportivo La Coruna. He has international experience and that can only benefit my young team. You could see in the game against Liverpool, his presence for my young player Phil Ifil, he is not the same player for the game against Cagliari and Liverpool. In France, we say a good player is a good player but he can give confidence and help younger players progress. He can give confidence to other players.
