The Anfield giants lost their goalscoring talisman to Real Madrid yesterday.
However, Jacques simply pointed to a strikeforce likely to consist of Djibril Cisse, seen as France's top young striker and Milan Baros, the Czech star who finished top scorer at Euro 2004.
Add the likes of Gerrard, Hamann and Hyypia and the impact of new boss Rafael Benitez - plus the Champions League win at AZ Graz on Tuesday - and the Merseysiders look in pretty good shape.
Jacques said: "They are a good team full of international players from countries competing in Euro 2004. They played very, very well on Tuesday and it will be a very difficult game for us.
"Mr Benitez has Cisse and Baros and they did very well on Tuesday so it will still be difficult for us without Owen.
"They are a strong team, they played well without Owen and only had Cisse and Josemi added from last year so they will be a good team.
"Mr Benitez has players like Dudek, Carragher, Hyypia, Cisse and Baros and then Steven Gerrard, who is the best English player. With those players they have to be a good team."
Jacques Santini insists Liverpool will be a massive threat in our Premiership opener - despite the loss of Michael Owen.
