Santini exclusive: Part Two

Posted on 10 June 2004  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

New Head coach Jacques Santini gives his next batch of answers to the questions we posed to him shortly after his appointment...

Is English football an environment you have long wanted to test yourself in?
JS: Yes, English football has always drawn me - the big games, great support, the stadiums and pitches. The encouragement of supporters is there even during difficult times.

How familiar are you with the Premiership?
JS: I know the league and have done for a long time. We played Arsenal in the Champions League when I was coach of Lyon and being coach of France I have watched matches from time to time. I am certainly aware of the league and its qualities.

You have many players from the Premiership in the France national squad. Did this encourage you to make the switch and have any of them discussed it with you?
JS: Of course I have spoken regularly about English football with the French internationals at Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal - also with Arsene Wenger and Gerard Houllier.

Don't forget, the final part of this Santini special will appear first in Friday's Spurs News Online - our popular email newsletter that is posted on a fortnightly basis. To register to receive this free bulletin, click HERE and specify which communications you would like to receive from the club.
