The midfielder slipped just outside the box, played the ball back to Ben Davies and a moment’s hesitation from the full-back allowed Graziano Pelle to steal in and open the scoring.
Erik Lamela levelled before the break, Pelle restored Southampton’s lead on 65 minutes before Nacer Chadli struck his 10th Premier League goal of the campaign to secure the 2-2 draw.
“I was obviously disappointed to give away a sloppy goal but once again we showed character to come back and get a positive result,” said Ryan.
“I should probably have cleared my lines first and foremost, but it’s one of those things I’ll learn from and hopefully won’t do again.
“I came in at half-time and apologised to the lads. I wanted to do my best to make up for it in the second half and try to make sure it didn’t negatively affect the result.
“It was unfortunate we didn’t get the win but we have to take credit from coming from behind twice. Overall, it’s not a bad result.”
