Ipswich Town U17s 1-2 Spurs

Michael Malcolm's double strike made sure our U17s returned with just reward from Saturday's performance in Suffolk.

Jimmy Neighbour's lads performed well in tricky, windy conditions, particularly in the face of the conditions in the first half.

The home side actually took the lead against the run of play after 20 minutes but Malcolm's splendid 20-yard strike after a spell of possession levelled it before the interval.

Spurs dominated after the break, created plenty of chances and Malcolm was there to win the game after 66 minutes, sidefooting home Owen Price's cross.

Coach Jimmy reflected: "It was very windy out there and we were up against it in the first half but despite that, we had a lot of the play and created a couple of very good chances.

"They then scored against the run of play, a good strike, but we showed a lot of character and Michael scored a with a great 20-yarder.

"We dominated in the second half, created chances and in the end I thought we deserved it. The lads worked hard and we defended a lot better as well."

Spurs U17s: Eyre, Watson, Francis, Hicks, Hodges, Ifil, Ahmed, McKenna, Malcolm, Price, Jenkins. Unused subs: Barcham, Forecast, Welch, Lee, Jones.
