Rose's rocket

Danny Rose has only one goal to opt for when asked for his best - but what a belter that was! It came, of course, against Arsenal at home last season and it's been voted the best in many quarters - including here on our official web.

Danny, who celebrated his 20th birthday last Friday, is the subject of our quick-fire ‘Box2Box' question-and-answer session in our new-look Hotspur magazine as we take him from his schooldays right up until the present day.

But that goal just won't go away! And why would it? As he says: "What a memory!" And he admits that Spurs fans just love to talk about it whenever they see him.

He tells us that his inspiration as a lad came from watching his uncle Mark Rankine play for Doncaster Rovers, Wolves, Preston, Sheffield United and Tranmere. And Doncaster, Danny's birthplace, keeps cropping up in his career.

He explains: "My league debut came at Doncaster while I was on loan at Watford. It was ironic that it should be against my home town club and that's where I also made my Spurs debut. That was in the Carling Cup last season. It was great to be playing against my local side and again good to have all the family watching."

And what are his reasons to be cheerful? Danny responds: "Just looking forward to seeing where next season takes me."

That future certainly looks bright - and a few more cracking goals along the way would be perfect!
