Danny Rose won his first full cap at Under-21 level as England impressed against Germany to book a place in the semi-finals of the European Championship Finals in Sweden on Monday night.
The midfielder was selected for his first start in an attacking role as the furthest forward of a three-man central midfield in a 4-3-3 system and played the full 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw at Halmstad's Orjans Vall Stadium.
England started shakily and went 1-0 down inside five minutes but recovered to dominate the match, levelling through Everton's JackRodwell after 29 minutes.
The score stayed that way although Danny - who put in some stirling defensive work alongside his play going forward - had one half-chance in the 57th minute that was goalbound but blocked.
The point was enough for England to top Group A with Germany finishing second and therefore eliminating highly-fancied Spain.
England's opponents in Friday's semi-final will be decided tonight (Tuesday, June 23) when Belarus take on Italy and hosts Sweden face Serbia. England take on the runners-up of Group B.
