Harry Redknapp believes the future is bright for Danny Rose at left-back.
The youngster made his first appearance since his famous goal against Arsenal last April in that full-back role in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Blackpool.
Danny, who played 17 times on loan at Bristol City in the Championship this season, defended well and competed particularly well in the air against the taller Gary Taylor-Fletcher.
As expected from a player familiar with a more advanced role, the England Under-21 international also impressed with his raids down the left flank where he linked up well with Gareth Bale in the first half.
He looks set to continue in the role in the big one at Manchester City on Tuesday night with Benoit Assou-Ekotto and now Gareth struggling with injury.
"Danny did well at left-back and I had no doubts that he would do well," said Harry. "That's his position. That's where he'll play.
"I was delighted with him. I knew he wouldn't let us down and he did a great job.
"We've got Benoit, who is also a great left-back, so it's a nice position for us. Danny did himself no harm (against Blackpool), he was top-class."
