Rohan's relish

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Rohan Ricketts was determined to make an impact in his first senior appearance at the Lane against PSV Eindhoven and he relished the experience.

It was a first half injury to Simon Davies that handed the young midfielder the opportunity he'd been waiting for and he certainly seized the moment with an impressive display against the Dutch champions.

"It gave me a big buzz!" said Rohan back at Spurs Lodge. "I've been waiting a while to get a first team game of some sort so it was good to come on.

"In football it is often injuries that give you a chance. I was talking to people like Jamie Redknapp and Robbie Keane and they told me they got their chance because of injuries to senior pro's when they were younger.

"It was disappointing to lose but it was the chance for me to come on against a big European team. I just wanted to show that I can bring something to the team."

Now Rohan is hoping for further chances to impress as the season-proper looms and he reasoned that his involvement with the first team group this pre-season has provided a major boost to his confidence.

"Being involved gives me a big lift and the manager talking to me so much gives me a lot of confidence."
