ROBBO'S REACTION

Paul Robinson gave his reaction to what was the not overly familiar feeling of a defeat after the 2-0 reverse to West Brom at the Hawthorns.

A goal in each half from Kanu determined the outcome and made it just a second loss on our Premiership travels this season. The goalkeeper typically took the defeat on the chin and reasoned that, even though recent results have been good, this one could have been a product of some slightly below par performances.

"I think we've got what might have been coming for a little bit because we have not played particularly well in our last couple of games," considered Robbo. "We managed to get results then but it caught up with us here and we got what we deserved.

"I think we might have needed it because we were not up to scratch and this time we didn't get anything out of the game.

I don't know why, sometimes it can click for you and sometimes it doesn't. It just didn't happen for us

A major positive of the festive programme is the opportunity to put things right very quickly and the chance to get back on track comes on New Year's Eve when Newcastle visit the Lane.

"We've got to look to the next game now, it is the first time we have lost for a while and we are now looking for a reaction and hopefully to pick up three points on Saturday."

"It will be a good game as it usually is when we play Newcastle. We've got a great record at home and we want to keep our run going there."
