Sven Goran Eriksson made the big decision to drop James and go with Paul for the second game of a World Cup qualifying double-header against Poland in September after James blundered just days earlier against Austria.
Outstanding for us all season, Robbo didn't put a foot wrong in the 2-1 win and has kept hold of the shirt for the three internationals since that night in Chorzow.
"David was great when I took over for England, unbelievable," said Robbo at Spurs Lodge.
"It's obviously a very difficult situation to be in but the way he was with me was great.
"He basically put his arm around me and said no hard feelings, good luck, wished me all the best, said he hoped it went well and if I needed anything to go an speak to him. It's all about the goalkeepers' union!
"He's a good lad Jamo, a good bloke, but I'm hoping we'll stick a few past him on Saturday - we'll then be friends again after the game."
Paul Robinson has the utmost respect for David James - not least after how the City keeper handled Robbo's promotion to England's number one.
