Robbo remembers well the night at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium. Robbie Keane had fired us into an early lead and a controlling interest in possession before, on 17 minutes, when the ball was not dealt with properly on the edge of the area and Adriano stole in on goal, Robbo advanced and brilliantly took the ball from the feet of the Brazilian and then looked on in shock as the referee pointed to the spot.
It completely changed the game and Sevilla turned a one goal deficit into a 2-1 advantage going into the second leg at the Lane, where despite rallying from two goals down, we were eliminated from the Cup.
"We really thought we could do well in that competition. The penalty cost us because at that point we were controlling the game. That was the most disappointing game of the season.
"After that we just had to make sure it was not a nearly season by qualifying for Europe – which we did."
Speaking to hotspur magazine, Robbo soon returned to his favourite topic - the supporters.
"Ever since day one, the fans have been excellent to me. They can see the passion I have got for winning football matches and I can relate to how they feel because I feel exactly the same. I hate losing, I am just an out and out bad loser - I hate losing and the fans can see that." TO READ THE INTERVIEW IN FULL, PICK UP A COPY OF HOTSPUR MAGAZINE OR CLICK HERE TO SUBSCRIBE
