Robbie, only just back after an ankle injury, is in the Irish squad alongside Stephen Carr and Gary Doherty for the make or break Euro 2004 qualifier against Switzerland.
First team coach Chris, Ireland's assistant manager, reported last night: "Robbie didn't train but it was one of those situations where we've been ultra-precautious.
"He felt a little stiffness just behind his knee so we told him there was no point in training. Of course, being Robbie, he wanted to train but he'll be back in training on Thursday."
Chris Hughton has allayed any fears over Robbie Keane's fitness after the striker sat out Ireland's training session yesterday.
