The striker fell awkwardly on his right ankle as he attempted a shot on goal in Ireland's friendly against Australia in Dublin.
Robbie waved immediately to the bench and was stretchered off.
"We're hopeful the injury isn't as bad as we first thought it would be," said Chris, our first team coach and Ireland assistant boss on his return to Spurs Lodge.
"It looks like ankle ligaments but Robbie is due in this afternoon and we won't know for sure until our physio has had a look at it. We'll know more later."
