Our Republic of Ireland striker has today issued the following statement:
Robbie said: "My father has been a massive influence on my football career as well as being inspirational in every part of my life. He fought a brave fight against cancer but he was always more like a brother to me than a father.
"It gives me great pride to know that the last game he saw me play in was against Everton when I scored a hat-trick.
"I will miss him greatly and I would be very grateful if my family and I could be given some privacy at this time to grieve for a wonderful man."
The Club would like to extend its sincere condolences to Robbie and his family at this sad time.
The Club was saddened to hear the news of the passing of Robbie Keane’s father last night.
