Clive Allen got the response he was looking for from our Spurs XI team at Millwall following last week's heavy defeat at Crawley Town.
The lads drew 1-1 against the Lions in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the New Den on Saturday.
Alex Olsen (pictured right) opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Danny Rose was upended to hand us the lead after 62 minutes. That was just two minutes after the young striker entered the fray as a substitute. Gary Alexander levelled for the home side 12 minutes later.
"I needed a reaction after the nature of the defeat at Crawley," reflected Development Coach Clive back at Spurs Lodge on Monday.
"Millwall wanted it to be a ‘proper' game, it was exactly that and I thought the way we went about things was very encouraging.
"We had a few senior players with us, their attitude was great and that always influences the younger lads in a positive way.
"I felt we deserved to go in front. Danny Rose drew the defender, he lunged in and won a penalty that Alex Olsen confidently stepped up to and converted. I felt we deserved that but as you expected, Millwall's more senior team pushed to get back in and they equalised with a fine goal from Gary Alexander. Overall, it was a good exercise for us."
The Spurs XI team travel to last season's Conference champions Aldershot Town for their next friendly on Tuesday night (July 29).
