Reto started his pre-season preparations late after playing for Switzerland in the World Under-20 Championships in June.
That meant he missed out on our trip to the Peace Cup in South Korea - a tournament we won with a 3-1 win against Lyon in the final on Sunday.
Instead, Reto has been getting into shape with the reserve group at Spurs Lodge for the last couple of weeks and returned to action for an hour as skipper of our Spurs XI side in the 1-1 draw at Boreham Wood last Thursday.
He followed that up with 90 minutes and a goal in Saturday’s 3-1 friendly win against Conference South outfit Cambridge City.
Coach Clive reported: “Reto was a week behind in terms of his pre-season programme so he had an hour on Thursday and then played the full 90 minutes at Cambridge City.
“I thought he looked very strong and very comfortable on Saturday and that’s a good sign.
“He’s trained hard and the pleasing thing is that he’s making the progress you’d want to see - he’s not far off the main group in terms of his physical capabilities.”
Clive Allen reports that Reto Ziegler is on target to join the first team squad on their return from South Korea.
