Reto Ziegler reflected on a perfect beginning to the New Year - his first goal for Spurs against Everton in what he described as his best game.
Not long after Dean Marney opened his account for the club, Reto followed suit with a fine finish after being teed up by Fredi Kanoute. He appeared to grow in stature after this and dazzled the crowd with some superb play down the left flank.
"It is the best start I could have had to the New Year - my best game and first goal," reasoned the Swiss under-21 international. "It is the second time I have played against Everton - the time before was my first game - and I am very happy for me, also for the team. We did a good job.
"It was a great feeling to score. It was a good touch from Fredi and I was in a good position. It is difficult to explain the feeling, but it was very nice.
"When you score you do get more confidence and was able to try some things.
"I am happy if I can play well, contribute to the team and if people are happy when I play. I want to continue, I must also look out for the team, but I am happy with the way things are going for me."
Reto's next challenge is the visit to Old Trafford, a trip he is well aware is among the toughest on the Premiership calender.
"Every game away is difficult and we know Manchester United are a very good team with top players. We are strong at the moment though and I am confident we can get a good result there."
