Reserves prepare for battle

English Barclays Premiership

Chris Hughton expects a tough time when his reserve outfit step back into FA Premier Reserve League action on Wednesday night.

We travel to Sutton United to face Wimbledon Reserves desperate to erase the memory of a disappointing defeat in our opening league match at Coventry City a fortnight ago.

Hughton's men have comfortably beaten Bishop's Stortford in a friendly since the poor display at Highfield Road and he will again field a strong-looking side with Ian Walker, Luke Young, Ramon Vega, Simon Davies, Matthew Etherington and Gary Doherty all pencilled in for the trip.

Boss Hughton said: "Coventry was certainly a very disappointing way to start so it's a nice opportunity for us to hopefully get back to winning ways in the league.

"It's always a very, very difficult game against Wimbledon no matter what side they put out. Possibly the pitch won't be to the same level as it would be if they were playing in the main stadium, so we're preparing for a battle.

"Ian Walker, Luke Young and Ramon Vega are definitely with us and there may be a few more from what you would call the first-team squad but we picked up a few injuries against Everton, so we'll have to wait and see on that one."

Meanwhile the reserves are set to play three games at White Hart Lane, with free admission for fans. More details later in the week.
