Reserves' mirror image

Posted on 14 November 2000 - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Chris Hughton’s reserve team have started to mirror the Premiership side at the Lane — which should mean good news on Tuesday night.
Like the first team our second string have yet to win on their travels in the FA Premier Reserve League and were comfortably beaten 3-0 at Derby County last time out last week.
But the similarity doesn’t end there — also like the unbeaten first team in the Premiership the reserves have been impressive at home recently and hammered Leicester City 6-0 in their last home fixture three weeks ago.
Ipswich Town - expected to include ex-Spur John Scales (pictured) - are next at St Albans FC on Tuesday (7.30pm) and boss Chris is determined to make it three home wins on the trot.
Chris said: “We are quite similar to the first team in that our home form has been good and away form not so good. Hopefully we’ll have a good result and not just result, a good performance as well.
“We all know in the game that you’ve got to win your home matches and get what you can away from home but particularly after Saturday’s first team game you want to get into games again and lift individuals at the club.”
Chris is expecting a tough time from a club on a high with their first team doing remarkably well after returning to the Premiership this season.
He added: “You tend to find that when the first team is doing well, and at Ipswich they are, the whole club will have a buzz. That tends to follow through the club and you see the benefits of it in reserve and youth team level.
“They are similar to Charlton in that they have a stronger squad than they’ve had in the last couple of years so certainly I would expect a difficult game. We just want to get back to winning ways.”
Just another reminder that Tuesday’s game is at St Albans FC (7.30pm).
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
