John Piercy followed up his goal at Swindon for the first team with a second half strike, but, after a flurry of substitutions, Barnet hit back with three late goals to consign the second-string to defeat in a game more about fitness levels than scorelines.
Coach Theo Foley was happy with the competitive nature of the game, but conceded that Barnet are further ahead with their preparations than our reserve group.
"It was a good work-out for us in our first game and it was a good goal by Piercy to give us the lead. Barnet made a lot of substitutions - seven or eight - and I don't really like that in a game. I only made a few, and one of those was because Matthew Etherington was feeling a little sore. It was a young side we had out, but it was good to have Steffen Freund with us."
The reserves now head to London Colney on Tuesday for a behind-closed-doors friendly against Arsenal.
Our reserve side suffered a 3-1 defeat at Barnet in their opening pre-season game at Underhill on Saturday.
