Our reserves toppled a strong RC Lens XI 3-2 in Tuesday afternoon's friendly in Avion, France.

The French side - the first team are currently third in Ligue 1, the reserves 12th in the regionalised Ligue 3 - fielded 10 players with senior experience (including ex-Liverpool defender Gregory Vignal) and looked the part as they took a 1-0 lead via Jussie Ferreira's fine strike after 16 minutes.

But the lads showed exactly why they've lost just one competitive match in the last 24 stretching back to last November by hitting back just when they were under most pressure.

Robert Burch made a couple of fine saves after 35 and 38 minutes to deny Erik Carriere and Patrick Barul but within a minute we broke away to equalise.

Andy Barcham sprung the offside trap, latching onto Jamie O'Hara's pass before finishing his one-on-one in style and then set-up strike partner Simon Dawkins for a 2-1 lead just before the break.

It took just a minute of the second half for substitute Tomas Pekhart to stretch the lead, Barcham involved again and goalkeeper Tommy Forecast, on for Robert Burch at the interval, produced a key moment with a penalty save from Barul with 18 minutes left.

Forecast was there again to turn away Ardene's free-kick but was finally beaten when Troy Archibald-Henville turned into his own net in the final seconds. However, there was no way back for the home side and there could be few complaints about the outcome, an excellent win.
