In our final series of reviews of last season, Clive Allen reflects on our title-winning reserve campaign...

And what a season it was! Our reserve group marched to the Barclays Premier Reserve League South championship with a run of 16 wins in their last 18 matches to take the title by 12 points.

Here, Clive runs the rule over the players that made it happen...

Andy Barcham: We used Andy in a number of positions – he played wide on the right, using his pace, and up front alongside Lee Barnard. I felt he gave us the explosive edge at times that we needed. He could get in behind defences, stretched defences with his pace and scored some important goals. He had a productive season.

Lee Barnard: He ended up playing 18 games and was top goalscorer in the section. He was consistent, always a threat and full of confidence from day one and that was on the back of finishing last season so well. He thoroughly deserved his new contract and didn’t rest on his laurels – his intention was to have a good season and push himself into the first team squad and he thoroughly deserved his chance at the end of the season.

Goran Bunjevcevic: Goran was captain for a lot of the season and was a great influence on the younger players. He didn’t miss too many games and was invaluable to us. He was calm, consistent in his performances and a top-class professional. He led by example every day in training and he provided exactly what you want for a senior player.
