Clive Allen concludes his assessment on the individual progress made by those in his Reserve Team group over the course of season 2006-07...
(5 appearances / 7 sub)
Tomas had a fantastic season with the Academy before getting injured and because of the striking problems was pushed on into the reserves. The step he maybe found a little bit difficult at first and no doubt a goal would have helped him. The injury was a frustration for him, but he will come back next season as a far more experienced player and with a greater understanding of what is required to make progress next season. Adel Taarabt
Adel came in and it isn't easy as I know having done the reverse and gone to France to play. He is a young man with exceptional talent and the glimpses we have seen of him in the First Team showed what he is capable of. He still has things to learn in terms of adapting to the English style of play, but he has it all there to become something special. There is work to do and next season he will go a long way towards completely adapting. Mark Yeates
(2 appearances, 1 goal)
Yeatesey had his loan periods again this season and has established himself as a league player in terms of his experiences at Colchester and then Hull and Leicester last season. His involvement with our reserve group was limited, but he is a talent and whenever he was in the team he was always capable of winning you a game with his fantastic skills. Reto Ziegler
I've got to say that although Reto was involved with the First Team, whenever he came over to our group he showed his qualities on the pitch and was comfortable in the games. There was a lot of interest in him and he went to Sampdoria, where he did very well. He was a good example of the fact that you have to perform in reserve games to get to where you want and Reto certainly did that. I've got a lot of time for Reto and admire his approach to reserve team football.
