Ipswich Town 0-2 Spurs

Steven Ferguson bagged a brace to secure a fine win for our, once again, youthful-looking reserve side at Portman Road.

The 19-year-old struck in the 45th and 89th minutes — enough to persuade Glenn Hoddle to place him on the bench at Anfield.

Boss Theo Foley handed full debuts at this level to Lee Barnard, Ron Henry and David Galbraith while Dean Marney appeared for the second time as substitute.

Spurs Reserves: Walker, Consorti, Lacy, Toner, Hillier, Henry, Barnard, Jackson, Ferguson, Kamanan, Galbraith (Marney, 64). Unused subs: S Kelly, G Kelly, Di Giuliantonio, Vedeux.
