"Now you are working at higher level with better players who are stronger and faster. You've got to use your brain a bit more up here!"
Charlie recalled he was a bag of nerves when it came to discovering his footballing fate last term - the moment he stepped into the office to find out whether a professional contract would have his name on it or not.
"Oh, all the boys were very nervous as we didn't find out until April. It was a long wait but luckily I got a professional contract and it was all good.
"Walking in was a 'frog in the throat' experience. I was very nervous and so pleased when I was told I was getting a contract."
Charlie's change of circumstances has not been restricted to simply being able to add the title of 'professional footballer' to his CV, he is also adapting to a change of position on the pitch. Development Coach Clive has switched the left winger to left back since pre-season and Charlie is not complaining.
"I don't mind going left back as long as I'm playing - I'll play anywhere. It is different as you don't have to get forward as much and it is about learning more about defending now.
"When you do play you have got to do the business. I want to carry on progressing really and get games under my belt."
] from my age-group. It is different working with older players, but very good.
