Report: City 0-0 Spurs

English Barclays Premiership

Kasey Keller's super show secured a welcome Premiership point from our first visit to the City of Manchester Stadium.

Our American goalkeeper was in unbeatable form as City created and wasted a host of chances in the first half.

Keller came out on top in two one-on-ones with Paulo Wanchope, another with Nicolas Anelka and produced a wonder save to deny Steve McManaman from point-blank range. Trevor Sinclair also headed wide and Anella had another effort cleared off the line.

One more save followed in the second half from Wanchope as the home side failed to break through.

It wasn't all City though - at the other end, David Seaman was lucky to see Fredi Kanoute's lob bounce a yard wide before producing a fine save himself from Darren Anderton's free-kick.

There was little respite in an all-action 45 minutes with the first serious chance falling to Kanoute, who failed to connect with a volley only to nip the loose ball over Seaman and just wide.

City's best spell followed. Anelka might have done better when he pounced on Anthony Gardner's header back, Keller making a comfortable save and Sinclair definitely should have done better when he headed Michael Tarnat's cross a mile wide from eight yards.

The French striker then played in Wanchope, Keller was equal to a weak finish but the American had to be at his very best to keep out McManaman from close range on the half-hour. From the resulting corner, Steve Carr hacked Anelka's prod off the line.

Seaman did well to keep out Anderton's deflected free-kick after 32 minutes but the half ended with Keller again in action, another one-on-one and another save low down to his right.

The second half started in similar fashion as Wanchope, Anelka and Wright-Phillips all went close before another instalment of the Wanchope/Keller show, the keeper forcing Wanchope wide before smothering his effort.

Rohan Ricketts came into the action for Goran Bunjevcevic on the hour as the game went a little flat for the first time. We enjoyed more possession in this time but, frustratingly, a few final passes went astray.

Robbie Fowler entered the fray for Wanchope with 15 minutes left with City appearing to have run out of ideas.

Chances were few and far between as Sibierski's effort was deflected wide and Fowler had two volleys, the first into the stand, the second flying just wide in injury time.
