Report: Cambridge City 1, Spurs XI 3

Posted on 23 July 2005  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Clive Allen expressed his satisfaction at our young Spurs XI's 3-1 win at Cambridge City on Saturday.

Goals from Andy Barcham, Emil Hallfredsson and a fine free-kick from Reto Ziegler gave us a comfortable victory and coach Clive was particularly pleased with the team's display.

"The boys played as well as they have done all pre-season, they did very well and it was a good performance," he reported.

"It was our second game in three days but we recovered well after Boreham Wood on Thursday and although this was a physical test for us we came through it."

Barcham (pictured left) and Hallfredsson put us two goals ahead before the home side pulled one back right on half-time but we dominated the second period and Ziegler's 20-yard set piece settled the issue.

Clive added: "We controlled the game for long periods and were comfortably in charge in the first half, they didn't really carry any goal threat until their goal just before half-time.

"The lads came out after the break and took control once again, we could have scored more before Reto's goal midway through the second half.

"These opponents were a step up again from our previous games and I was very pleased with our performance."
