Irish international Doc, who played here for the Republic's Under-21s, slid home the equaliser at 1-1 during our best spell in the first half but two quickfire goals in the second half paved the way for the Bohs' success.
Japanese international Kazuyuki Toda made his senior debut on a filthy, rain-soaked night in Dublin
If we were in any doubt how much this friendly meant for the home side the proof arrived immediately.
Kevin Hunt's shot was deflected inches wide and from Bobby Ryan's corner, Colin Hawkins skewed his shot into the path of Paul Keegan to bundle home and raise the roof at Dalymount Park - less than two minutes on the clock.
Neil Sullivan was soon out sharply to deny Andrei Pereplyotkin and after Matty Etherington's volley sailed over, Sullivan was there again to save one-on-one from the breaking Hunt.
Darren Anderton was steadily strengthening his grip on the midfield though and with it came more possession and a switch in territorial advantage.
Gary Doherty went close, Milenko Acimovic forced a fine save out of Seamus Kelly and the equaliser followed from the ensuing corner.
The ball was never really cleared, Toda clipped it into the danger area, Anderton won the key header and Doherty, who played on this ground for Ireland U21s, volleyed home off the post.
That goal came just before the half-hour and it was all Spurs for the rest of the half although chances were few and far between.
If the Spurs contingent in Dalymount Park thought they'd seen the best of the home side though they were wrong.
Bohemians came flying out of the traps again at the start of the second half and again took less than two minutes to go ahead. The goal was simplicity itself - Ryan swung in a corner and Hawkins headed home from six yards.
That appeared to inject life into Bohs and it was 3-1 after 57 minutes as Webb's cross found its way through to substitute Robbie Doyle who lashed his volley back across Sullivan into the far corner.
Carr hit back by firing a volley inches wide and as the substitutions started to roll, Alton Thelwell, John Jackson and Rohan Ricketts were all thrown into the action.
Jackson made an impact straight away, first helping set up Toda's curler that Kelly did well to tip over and then squaring for Steffen Freund, whose attempt from close range was blocked by three defenders.
Doyle and Morrison went close for Bohemians as play switched from end to end in the closing stages, Sullivan saving well from Pereplyotkin late on.
