Andy Reid is set to step straight back into the Republic of Ireland side for the make or break World Cup qualifier against Switzerland on Wednesday night.

The left winger has impressed on Irish duty in recent internationals but was suspended for Saturday's 1-0 win in Cyprus.

Reidy is available again for the final group game at Lansdowne Road and with Damien Duff injured and out of the frame, he looks a certain starter for Ireland's most important match in two years.

Robbie Keane should also start as the Republic aim for the win that would guarantee at least a play-off spot

Spurs coach and Ireland assistant manager Chris Hughton told us on Monday night: "Brian (Kerr, manager) hasn't named the team yet but Reidy is very much in the frame.

"He's played well in recent games, very much so. His standing in the group has increased because he's playing regularly in the Premiership as opposed to the Championship and he's a very highly thought of player in the squad."ÂÂ
