The message from the in-form Iceland midfielder was ‘let’s go on another run’ after the 3-2 reverse at Anfield - our first defeat in 13 and only our second loss in 17 in the Premier League.
“It was disappointing but all we can do now is focus on the next game at Inter and make sure we go through,” said Gylfi, referring to Thursday night’s Europa League Round of 16 second leg, where we take a 3-0 lead to the San Siro.
“We’ve been on an unbelievable run and sometimes things like this happen. We have to make sure we stay together, regroup and get ready for the next game.
"Hopefully we can go on another run between now and the end of the season.”
Gylfi reflected the disappointment of the dressing room after the 3-2 defeat against Liverpool.
Having trailed 1-0, we came back strongly, levelled on the stroke of half-time through Jan Vertonghen and when the centre-back struck again for 2-1, we looked in control.
But that good work was undone by a couple of mistakes that let in the Reds to get back level at 2-2 through Stewart Downing and then Steven Gerrard slotted home the winner from the penalty spot.
“They have dangerous players, especially Suarez up front, but I thought once it went to 2-1 we controlled the game,” added Gylfi. “In the end, we lost the game ourselves.
“We deserved more than we got at Anfield, so that shows how good the team is. We’ve now got to go on another run.”
