Jamie Redknapp could hardly contain his delight when asked for his reaction to England's magnificent victory over Argentina.
"Tremendous!," he beamed. "What a result, what a performance!
"I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. Backs to the wall after the last game - I don't think anyone in the country was expecting that today.
"If anyone would have predicted that today you would have called them a fortune teller."
Jamie agrees that an against the odds struggle against a leading nation does tend to bring out the best in England teams.
"It's an English mentality, backs to the wall is when English people are at their best. I thought it was a really, really good result and there were so many great performances there today. It was unbelieveable."
The midfielder also feels that the rest of the world will have to sit up and take notice of the courage shown by the team in Sapporo.
"I think it does because no-one can honestly say they expected that. Many people had written us off and now people are going to be fearing us again."
