We are now the proud holders of the record attendance for an England Under-21 international after fans packed out White Hart Lane on Friday night.

A crowd of 34,574 turned up at the Lane for the European Under-21 Championship play-off, first leg.

The previous record for an Under-21s match was 33,184 at Derby County's Pride Park Stadium on February 8 this year, when Holland were the visitors.

Pride Park also held the previous record attendance, when 32,865 fans cheered England to victory over France in February 1999

Spurs pair Michael Dawson, who skippered the side and Tom Huddlestone both played on home soil as the sides drew 1-1.

Anthony Le Tallec opened the scoring two minutes into the second half before Darren Ambrose levelled eight minutes from time.

The second leg is in Nancy on Tuesday with the winners through to next summer's finals.
