The young midfielder, 20, lined-up against Real Madrid in the Audi Cup in front of a packed Allianz Arena.
Dele impressed in a 68-minute stint as we lost 2-0 to the La Liga side.
“It was a phenomenal feeling for me,” said the England youth international. “I’m disappointed we couldn’t get the result but I’m so happy to pull on a Spurs shirt.
“I just wanted to blow away a few cobwebs I still had left and try to show the gaffer what I could do, try to earn my place in the team for United.
“We had a few chances. I had a couple where I perhaps could have hit the ball a bit earlier. We played well and we’ll be down for a couple of hours but we need to focus on the positives from this and take it into the United game on Saturday.”
Dele had one of the moments of the match as he nutmegged ex-Spur Luke Modric in the first half.
“It was a natural instinct as he came in,” said Dele. “I was just happy to show what I can do. Hopefully the gaffer has seen some positives from me."
The pair were all smiles in the tunnel afterwards. “Luka laughed about it afterwards, that was good of him.”
