We take on the record nine-times European champions in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tonight (Tuesday, April 5). The return leg is at the Lane next Wednesday, April 13.

“It makes me very proud to be here, to be with a club that is going the right way to win trophies,” said the in-form goalkeeper who reached the semi-finals of the competition at PSV in 2005.

“When you want to win trophies, you have to play against teams like Real Madrid.

"We've worked so hard for it and we deserve it because we've been in great form for the last two years.

“This is massive for us, the club and the fans. I think this a game everyone wants to play.

“It's not an easy game, but our confidence is high and we need to be strong because we know how to play in the Champions League now. We have to focus and play our game.

“We know we have a great squad and a great team. We can go there and win, we know that. We can go there and win the game, playing at the same level as Madrid.

“I know it will also massive for the fans.

“When I first came to the club I'm sure no-one was thinking about going to the Bernabeu to watch a game and now they are very happy. The team has given them something to smile about.”
