The Uruguayan midfielder is coming to the end of his three-year stint at the club and his appearance off the bench in Saturday's 1-0 win against Blackburn Rovers will be his last as he's already confirmed he won't be playing in England next season.
Gus, who is looking into a move to Qatar, reflected: "I have to say a big thanks to the supporters, they've been great even when I've not played too much lately.
"It's been tough. This was probably been the worst run in my career. I can't remember going eight games without a win and it's been hard, so it was a good end.
"I think the supporters have been great and we have to realise what happened after the game would never happen anywhere else in the world. Fans would boo you for the season we've had.
"We have to be very proud of those supporters and hopefully they will have something to cheer next season."
Gus Poyet has said a huge thanks to the fans for his reception at the end of his last game at White Hart Lane.
