Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

After our result here against Manchester United, it was nice to go away and get a great win at Tranmere in the Worthington Cup and then follow that up with a convincing display here against Derby.
It was imperative that we got three points against Derby. We set about our business right from the start and played some excellent stuff, especially in the first half. It was very enjoyable to play in and it epitomises what football is all about. Everbody was working as a unit and for each other, we played simple football very well and it showed in our performance. We could have had four or five goals in that first half.
When it’s done right, the game looks easy and everybody enjoys it. We all came off after the first half feeling very pleased and the killer goal came late on in the second period, giving us a resounding and fully deserved victory.
That gave us great confidence to go to Newcastle last Sunday and, buoyed by our previous two wins, we again played some excellent football. We passed the ball about well and could have taken the lead even before we scored, as we looked the quality side out of the two teams.
It was only a matter of time before we broke through and it was an important goal to get so early in the game, a reward for our hard work and good football. The second one was an absolute gem from our point of view. That’s exactly what we’ve been working on all season, passing the ball around with confidence and it’s great when that ends with a goal.
The move was finished off with a great cross from Darren Anderton, who was outstanding again on the day, and a superb header from Gus Poyet, who always seems to get into those scoring positions.
We were only talking about that the other day, the way we are able to score goals from all over the pitch. When you play against teams who only have two strikers capable of scoring because the midfielders don’t get forward, it’s easy to mark.
But with our team, we’ve got options all over the place. Christian’s weighed in with a few goals, Darren is always capable of scoring, Simon Davies, Sergei Rebrov, Gus, myself and Les have all scored this season.
It’s great to know I can play the way I want to, dropping off into different areas and leaving spaces for other players, knowing they can score goals. It takes the pressure off the whole team and makes it so much more enjoyable as we can create chances for each other.
The second half against Newcastle was a different game altogether for us — it showed how good we are defensively — particularly with Mauricio Taricco coming off inside the first five minutes of the half. Tano’s been outstanding, he’s just agreed a new contract with the club which is great for us because he’s a quality player.
He’s in a difficult position to play in at right wing-back because often when the play gets switched so quickly you can get isolated.
But Tano has got that Latin temperament that gets hold off the ball, controls it and keeps possession well. He’s had an excellent start to the season, I’m very pleased he’s signed a new contract and the lads have all expressed their delight at seeing a smile back on his face.
Moving on to today’s opponents Middlesbrough, I think they’ve got an excellent manager in Steve McClaren who is a great coach, and I enjoyed working with him at Manchester United and still with England.
The sooner he gets his Middlesbrough team into his way of thinking, they’ll be okay. I’m sure he will get them moving in the right direction up the league, but hopefully not starting today.
Enjoy the game.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
