Alex Pritchard struck late as our Under-18s won a rollercoaster match against high-flying Watford on Saturday.

Goals from Paul McBride and Kudus Oyenuga put the lads firmly in the driving seat at half-time but Watford hit back to make it 2-2 after the break.

Both teams had chances at 2-2 but Pritchard was in the right place at the right time just two minutes from time to slot home the winner.

That made it three wins on the trot and seven matches unbeaten in the Premier Academy League stretching back to December.

Before Saturday, Watford had lost just three times this season and started the day third in Group B of the PAL.

"I thought we were excellent in the first half," reported coach Alex Inglethorpe.

"Some of our play was absolutely top-drawer and we thoroughly deserved the 2-0 lead.

"We opened the scoring after 20 minutes when Paul McBride got onto a fantastic pass from Alex Pritchard and finished well.

"Kudus Oyenuga made it 2-0 10 minutes later when he met Jack Barthram's cross and headed in at the far post.

"We controlled the game at that point and everything you want to see from a team, they delivered.

"Having said that, it wasn't all one-way traffic and Jordan Archer made a couple of fine saves.

"We dropped off a little in the second half, lost some of our intensity and fair play to Watford, they came back at us and I'd have to say they deserved to come back to 2-2, scoring on the hour and then with about 10 minutes to go.

"Credit to the lads though, they found another gear and forced a winner. Kudus Oyenuga went on a run down the left, cut into the box and hit the post and Alex Pritchard was there to slot home the rebound.

"We're on a decent run, playing well and we always thought the team would come on strong in the second half of the season and they've done that."
