The attacking midfielder and another product of our Academy, Alex has put pen to paper on a four-year contract until 2019.
“I’m very happy to commit my future to Tottenham and I really want to get my season started now,” said the 22-year-old, who is back to full fitness after picking up an ankle injury on England Under-21 duty in June.
“I’ve had a solid couple of weeks training under my belt and hopefully I can kick-on from here.
“All I want to do is pull the shirt on and play.”
Alex joined us as a schoolboy and signed Academy forms back in 2009.
“It’s been about hard work and dedication and hopefully it’s starting to pay-off now,” he said.
“But it’s only the start of things so hopefully this season I can show people what I can do.”
He’s done exactly that in season-long loan spells at Swindon in League One in 2013-14 and more notably at Brentford in the Championship last term when his performances earned a place in the PFA Team of the Year.
“The loans have been a crucial in my development," said Alex, who would love to now follow in the footsteps of the likes of Harry Kane, Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason and become an established first-team squad member.
“They have all done superbly and it’s only the start for them as well,” he added. “They’ve had their chance and taken it.
“Hopefully I’ll get my chance and I’ll be able to take it as well.
“As I said, it has taken a lot of hard work and dedication from a young age to get to this point and to pull on the shirt would mean a lot.”
