Preview panel - Saints v Spurs

Continuing our new feature for the second half of the season - preview panel - where we'll take the views of a Spurs legend, a pundit and Spurs fans ahead of our next fixture. Next up, a trip to Southampton on Saturday.

david_howells250 THE LEGEND - DAVID HOWELLS

David joined us in 1984, turned professional a year later and made a goalscoring debut in 1986. An all-action midfielder, he went on to make 335 appearances for us and was a member of our FA Cup-winning team of 1991. He left for Southampton in 1998.

"Looking at current form and given the quality of the two teams, I think we'll have too much for Southampton on Sunday. Much as I look out for Southampton as a former club - and I do have a soft spot for them - Spurs is my club and I think it will be a win for Tottenham.

"I think our movement with Dele, Heung-Min Son and Christian Eriksen, obviously in addition to Harry Kane's goals, will be too much to cope with for Southampton. They have some good players but we always set up strong defensively and in those key areas going forward, especially Sonny, I just think we'll be too hot to handle at the moment.

"I think will have too much. I'll go for a 3-1 win."

simon_peach THE PUNDIT - SIMON PEACH

Simon is Chief Football Writer for the Press Association - and a Southampton fan.

"It is hard to look past Tottenham on Sunday given Southampton's current form and their miserable display at Wembley last month (a 5-2 Spurs win). Mauricio Pellegrino's men lacked leadership and organisation in their Boxing Day collapse, leading Saints fans to turn on certain players.

"Saints are battling against the drop thanks to a 10-match winless run in the Premier League. The last time they endured such a poor run in the top tier was the relegation season of 2004-05.

"While Saints need to pick themselves off the canvas, it is hard to see how they will stop Mauricio Pochettino's side if they can get anywhere near their swashbuckling best.

"Harry Kane continues to be a joy to behold and put Saints to the sword with a Boxing Day treble, showing an exquisite cutting edge that is complemented by his talented, hungry team-mates.

"I expect St Mary's will witness a former Argentina international called Mauricio triumph this weekend, just not the one the majority are hoping for."
