Students to represent Club in Premier League enterprise challenge

Five students from St Andrew the Apostle School in Barnet will represent Tottenham Hotspur in this season’s Premier League Enterprise Challenge.


The group, aged between 14-15 years old, went head-to-head against students from other local schools, including Tottenham University Technical College and St Thomas More, to win the chance of representing the Club in the regional finals which will take place next month.

Premier League Enterprise Challenge, set up to teach 11 to 19-year-olds the basic principles of business, gives young people the opportunity to explore what goes on behind the scenes of a Premier League club as they work together to tackle the very real task of how a club can enhance matchday experience for fans.

Through the scheme, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation delivered a series of interactive workshops to local school students to help them develop their presentation techniques and business plan before pitching their ideas to a panel of judges consisting of representatives from the Club, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, Tottenham Hotspur’s Supporters Trust and Proud Lilywhites.

Georgio Michaelides, a member of the winning group from St Andrew the Apostle, said: “It was a great experience for us. We have learned so much more about Tottenham Hotspur and the challenges that a football club faces. I’m a Spurs fan so it’s exciting for me to be representing my Club against other Premier League teams in the regional finals.”

Chris Paouros, Co-Chair of the Proud Lilywhites, was a member on the judging panel and said: “We were extremely impressed by the quality of presentations delivered by all the groups. We had a tough job as judges – all of the ideas had great merit. We wish the team from St Andrew the Apostle all the best for the regional finals and will be watching their progress with interest.”

Gareth Dace, Schools Education and Enterprise Manager, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “It’s always inspiring to see young people build up the confidence to deliver quality presentations and enjoy doing it. All of the students we worked with this year have developed skills that will no doubt assist them in the future. We look forward to seeing how they get on in the next stage.”
