Gus Poyet believes familiarity has helped breed success at Southampton.
The Saints finished seventh in the Premiership last term and look to have strengthened with the likes of Kevin Phillips, Neil McCann and Graeme Le Saux arriving in pre-season.
The Saints consistency surely comes from a key group of players playing week in, week out - main men like James Beattie, Matt Oakley, Claus Lundekvam, Michael and Anders Svensson, Fabrice Fernandes and keeper Antti Niemi all made 28 starts or more in the Premiership last season.
"They know how they want to play, they know what they have to do and they play that way," Gus pointed out.
"They are not always 10 out of 10 but they are consistent. We know what to expect, that is not hard to know. It is a tricky game and we need three points.
"They have consistency and it would be nice if we could do the same and stay with the same formation for a while because that helps with understanding on the pitch."
