Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Saturday's match will be the 63rd League meeting between the two sides at the Lane.

The previous 62 have resulted in 30 Spurs wins, 18 for Liverpool with 14 drawn matches.

Last season’s corresponding fixture - played on August 14, 2004 - resulted in a 1-1 draw. Djibril Cisse gave Liverpool a 38th minute lead which Jermain Defoe levelled in the 70th minute. The crowd figure was 36,101.

Our last win here over Liverpool was on January 17, 2004. Robbie Keane gave us the lead from a 24th minute penalty. Helder Postiga mader it 2-0 nine minutes after the break and Harry Kewell reduced the arrears after 74 minutes.

Liverpool’s last League win here was by a 3-2 scoreline on March 16, 2003. Michael Owen, Emile Heskey and Steven Gerrard scored their goals with Mauricio Taricco and Teddy Sheringham replying for us.

Peter Crouch was on our books during the early part of his career. He featured for our youth and reserve teams between 1996 and 2000, without making a senior appearance, before moving on to Queens Park Rangers during July, 2000.

Jermain Defoe's next appearance will be the 200th of his senior club career.

He made a goalscoring debut for West Ham United against Walsall in a League Cup tie on September 19, 2000 and went on to play 105 games for the Hammers. He also played 31 matches whilst on loan for AFC Bournemouth during season 2000-01 and has made 63 appearances in our colours since signing during February last year.

His present tally of 199 comprises 176 League games - scoring 69 goals - plus 23 cup matches, netting 22 goals.
