Hernan Crespo or Didier Drogba — Anthony Gardner knows he’s in for a test whoever spearheads the Chelsea attack on Saturday.
Crespo — back from a loan spell at Inter Milan — scored a stunning goal in Chelsea’s opening day win at Wigan while Drogba scored the winner against Arsenal last weekend and added another against West Brom on Wednesday.
Anthony has been part of a defence that has kicked-off with three clean sheets and is now looking to extend the sequence against the champions in a first v second clash at the Lane.
“Crespo’s a world-class player and a threat, scored goals wherever he’s played,” said Anthony. “He’s a very technical player and very dangerous.
“We’ll have to be on our game to stop the supply to him and then stop him getting chances to score, then you are going a long way to stopping Chelsea.
“Drogba is more physical, very strong but you come up against this quality of strikers in the Premiership every week.
“You have to be ready on the day to combat whatever qualities they have. They have quality all over the park but we are good enough to break them down. We respect them but we’ll play to win.”
