The £11m star from Dynamo Kiev showed his class in front of a packed home crowd for the first time with a stunning Premiership debut.
Rebrov hit the crossbar with a magnificent curler, released Stephen Carr to win the penalty for our equaliser and hooked up again with Carr to let the full-back in for the second goal, pictured right. The only shame was he didn't cap his display with a goal of his own in the second half.
Manager George Graham enthused: "I thought Sergei was excellent. When you think about it he hit the bar with a lovely shot with the outside of his foot, that showed the class he's got and he could have scored a couple in the second half. He also laid on two of the goals.
"He's a team player and that's what excites me about him. He can score goals but he can also make goals.
"Sergei's a very infectious player, he's sharp and when he does things it's exciting to watch. We need that class of player at White Hart Lane. Not only is he a class act individually but he also talks about being a team player. That shone through in his contribution."
Striker partner Steffen Iversen said: "He played a brilliant game and we play well together. It was a good start for us. I was just hoping he might score as well just to cap it off."
Goalscorer Les Ferdinand added: "We've seen glimpses of him in pre-season and he's looked the part but he really looked the part when it mattered. The good thing is he not only looks like a player who can score goals but he can create them as well."
Sergei Rebrov won praise from all quarters after setting White Hart Lane alight on Saturday.
