We are likely to come face-to-face with the left-sided raider again in tonight's Premiership clash against Charlton at The Valley.
Konchesky played 15 games for us, starting 12, after joining us on a loan spell from Charlton in September.
His arrival coincided with a run of one defeat and five clean sheets in six games - something acting boss David gives the England U21 star full credit for.
"Paul did a good job for us," said David as he prepared for the trip to Charlton. "He helped us with our defensive game in those early matches and was good protection for the left-back.
"We then said quite clearly after picking up a few points from defending well that we would try to get a more attacking feel to the team.
"How could we do that without buying players because we were out of the transfer window? What we did was put a more creative player in the position. That's where we are today."
Coach Chris added: "Paul was tremendous for us. It shows in that he came here on loan yet he played almost every game in his spell here.
"That's unusual. Normally when you take someone on loan they'll have a period out of the team but he played almost every game.
"If he looked back on his own performances in and the results we had it would show the effect he had on us.
"He was also a good individual to have around. He was very thankful when he left, took the time out to thank staff for their efforts and that was a nice touch. It will be nice to see him again."
David Pleat and Chris Hughton couldn't speak highly enough of Paul Konchesky after his loan spell at the Lane earlier this season.
